Engaging in art, writing, meditation, even just a conversations with other couples were very therapeutic, it helped me to feel better, more centered, and emotionally healed.

Our couples retreats are a transformative journey

Through a blend of meaningful conversations, practical tools, and evidence-based techniques rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), systemic perspectives and mindfulness, this retreat offers a path to rediscover joy and intimacy in your relationship.

Led by Juliane, an experienced therapist who has worked with couples in Johannesburg, the retreat combines her expertise with the serene environment of our farm. With guided sessions, reflective practices, and open dialogue, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of your partner and a renewed commitment to your journey together.

Our retreat schedule is built on three important steps we have to take to one another and to build our future:

  1. Acknowledge & Reconnect: Rediscover each other’s presence, appreciation, and love.
  2. Empathy & Understanding: Learn to see each other’s perspectives, understand individual challenges, and grow together.
  3. Commit to Growth: Establish conscious habits and embrace a peaceful, united future.

Juliane uses educational input and specific therapeutic tools but customises every couples retreat weekends to the unique needs of the couples and individuals attending. Couples therapy aims to restore connection, improve communication, and resolve challenges in a relationship. When approached through a systemic perspective and emotionally focused therapy (EFT), it delves deeper into the dynamics of the relationship, fostering transformation at its core. Together, these methods create a powerful framework for healing and growth, making a couples retreat an ideal setting for meaningful progress.

From a systemic perspective, a couple’s relationship is viewed as part of a larger network of interconnected systems, such as family histories, cultural influences, and societal expectations. Systemic therapy focuses on how each partner’s patterns of interaction contribute to the relationship’s dynamics. It aims to:

  • Identify relational patterns: Understand recurring behaviors, communication styles, and emotional triggers that affect the partnership.
  • Explore family systems: Address how past relationships, upbringing, and generational influences shape current dynamics.
  • Strengthen resources: Help couples recognize their strengths and shared goals as a foundation for resilience and connection.
  • Facilitate change: Shift unhelpful patterns and create healthier, more supportive ways of relating.

EFT complements the systemic approach by focusing on the emotional bonds between partners. Rooted in attachment theory, it helps couples understand and address the underlying emotions driving their interactions. Key aspects of EFT include:

  • Identifying emotional cycles: Recognizing patterns like withdrawal, blame, or conflict that undermine trust and intimacy.
  • Building emotional safety: Creating an environment where both partners feel secure enough to express vulnerability.
  • Strengthening attachment bonds: Rebuilding trust and fostering deeper emotional connection.

EFT helps couples move away from surface-level conflicts and toward a deeper understanding of each other’s needs and fears, transforming their interactions into moments of connection and growth.

A couples retreat will offers you a deeper experience

While traditional therapy sessions provide valuable insights and tools, a couples retreat amplifies the experience by immersing partners in a focused, supportive environment. Here’s why retreats are particularly impactful:

  1. Dedicated Time and Space: Retreats remove the distractions of daily life, allowing couples to fully engage in their healing journey. The uninterrupted time fosters deeper conversations and moments of clarity.
  2. Immersive Experiences: Through a combination of therapy sessions, workshops, and activities, couples engage with systemic and EFT approaches in a holistic, hands-on way.
  3. Deeper Connection: Retreats often include exercises designed to build trust, enhance communication, and nurture intimacy, helping couples reconnect on a profound level.
Nature’s Role in Healing: Set in serene environments, retreats harness the calming and grounding effects of nature, supporting emotional regulation and fostering a sense of renewal.
Supportive Community: Sharing the retreat space with other couples can create a sense of shared understanding and mutual support, reducing isolation and normalizing struggles.

A couples retreat provides the space, tools, and guidance for meaningful transformation. It’s not just about resolving issues—it’s about rediscovering each other, reigniting intimacy, and building a partnership that is stronger, more compassionate, and more fulfilling.
